- Ability How good are you – think about what teachers say, how well you do in tests – if unsure talk to your teachers.
- Interests What do you enjoy doing? You will do better if you have a genuine interest in the subject.
- Career If you already know what you would like to do when you leave school … Great, but seek advice.
If you do not know, that’s OK … but keep your subjects broad Making your Decision - Investigate all your choices carefully – use the CareersNZ site www.careers.govt.nz; ring their chat line 0800 222 733, email [email protected] or talk to Ms Karanga in the Careers Centre and to your subject teachers.
Discuss your choices with your parents / caregivers. - Investigate what subjects are required for possible careers you are interested in.
