Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

Full participation in Year 10 Physical Education. Enjoy the practical and active aspects of Physical Education. 



Level 1 Physical Education

This a practical course that teaches you how to:

  • Demonstrate kotahitanga while working as a team while playing different games and sports 
  • Explore te ao Māori concepts that help you to be better leaders 
  • Explain how defensive, offensive and tactical play enhance your game play
  • Unoack how different factors influence your participation in physical activity

You will be given the opportunity to achieve 15 credits in this subject. You will sit two internal standards and 1 external.


Course Overview

Term 1
In term 1 students will participate in a wide variety of sports and activities and consider the defensive, offensive and tactical play have influenced their play.

Term 2
In term 2 students will continue to be active with a view of improving their interpersonal skills. They will unpack how different game strategies influence their ability to demonstarte kotahitanga as a team.

Term 3
During term 3 students will choose a physical activity that they will do as a class and explain how this has improved the 4 dimensions of te whare tapa wha.
This is an external exam.

Term 4
This term students will complete any outstanding standards as well as collecting evidence for their external exam
