2 Mathematics (General)
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs A. Lakhan.
This course is based on Level 7 of Mathematics in the New Zealand Curriculum. It builds on work done in mathematics at Year 11 and provides a basic mathematical grounding for further study at Year 13. This course is aimed at students who wish to keep open a pathway to the University Approved courses at Level 3.
The course is entirely internally-assessed and offers a total of 16 credits

Term 1
Apply co-ordinate geometry methods in solving problems
Apply trigonometric relationships in solving problems
Term 2
Use statistical methods to make an inference
Term 3
Conduct an experiment to investigate a situation using statistical methods
Investigate a situation involving elements of chance using a simulation
Term 4
Apply network methods in solving problems
Recommended Prior Learning
It is recommended that students have at least 11 credits in Mathematics at Level 1.

Taking general mathematics will allow you into pathway for level general math only.
You will not be able to do courses of 3MAS or 3MAC as there is no external in this course.
