2 History
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr A. Rasmussen.
History is the study of events from the past and how they have impacted life today.
In Level 2 History we investigate the global nature of the world. How can events in countries far away have an impact here in Aotearoa and the Pacific? Students will be encouraged to carry out inquiries on topics such as The Mau movement in Sāmoa or the impact of global terror organisations on our region. 2HIS will also conduct an indigenous knowledge inquiry pacific as part of our course.
Trips: We will be visiting Auckland Museum and local art galleries as part of our study.
Course Overview
Term 1
Term 1 is all about who we are as a person. How do we keep hold of our own cultural history/stories and how do these impact us as people?
Term 2
Term 2 is all about who we are as a class and learning how to collect and use evidence. What role does Fake News play in our everyday understanding of what's happening around us? How can we trust where we get our news and understanding of events from?
Term 3
In Term 3 we are using the evidence that we have collected in Term 1 during our inquiry to then analyse significant events in the history of Aotearoa or the Pacific (or even the world). How are things changing? When the world is changing what still stays the same (continuity).
Term 4
Revision and external examination focus.
