Course Description
Teacher in Charge:
In Level 1 History, we are investigating the theme of our place in the world.
We will look at Pacific Events and how movements such as Black Lives Matter have had an impact on us. We also examine historical events and indigenous cultural practices that have made us who we are today.
Trips: There might an overnight trip in 2024 (to be confirmed) if so, it will cost approximately $65.
Course Overview
Term 1
In Term 1 we will be learning about ourselves and the world around us. Our Pacific unit seeks to delve into our identity and the cultural histories we bring with us everyday when we arrive at school. We are more than just the person sitting down in front of the whiteboard.
Term 2
In Term 2 we are learning about how to collect evidence and form quality research questions. This is something that will help you beyond history.
Term 3
In Term 3 we will look at an event or place that has importance for Aotearoa New Zealand. This could be the Dawn Raids, the Mau Movement or the Springbok Tour Protests and the start of Black Lives Matter.
Term 4
In Term 4 we analyse some of the thoughts and points of view around the event you choose in Term 3.

You will be offered up to 20 credits from the standards listed. You will discuss which are most appropriate for you with your teacher.Credit Information
