This course is for those students who have come to New Zealand recently and who are developing their skills in spoken and written English. The course will be based around interesting and useful topics and students will be given the opportunity to gain English Language credits. Courses will be adapted to fit the student’s ability. Standards and levels will be decided through Individual programmes with some students doing a general level 3 course, but others will be given the opportunity to attempt the EAP standards at level 3 and 4.
Term 1
Learning about formal language and informal language, and preparing for a formal interview.
Term 2
The topic this term will be natural disasters and extreme weather conditions. The assessment will be a reading assessment. Those doing the level 3EAP standards will be guided to choose their own topics.
Term 3
Writing our stories - We will look at our identity and where we come from. Students will be assessed in writing about their own personal experiences. There will also be the chance to do a final assessment in listening and following directions. Those doing the level 3EAP standards will be guided to choose their own topics.
