In this course you will learn about a range of Tourism topics including Tourism as a business in NZ, world and NZ destinations that are popular with tourists and the range of jobs available in the tourism industry. These topics prepare you for Level 3 Tourism and also will prepare you for the workforce or further training.
Term 1
During this term you will be introduced to the Tourism industry as a business. You will learn about terminology and the importance of Tourism to the economy of New Zealand.
Assessment will be by US 24730 - 4 credits.
Term 2
This term our focus will be on the range of employment opportunities available to those wanting to work in the Tourism industry. Assessment will be by US 24728, 3 credits.
We will also be looking at New Zealand as a tourist destination and continuing our study into the importance of Tourism to the economy of New Zealand.
Term 3
We will complete the work we began last term on NZ and then study World tourist destinations.
Assessment will be by US 24729, 4 credits and 24731, 4 credits.
Term 4
This term is all about wrapping what we have learnt so far this year and preparing ourselves for the Level 3 course work.
