3 Tourism Studies

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs V. Maskell.

Students will study an in depth course which covers three different areas of the Pacific/Australasia region - these are New Zealand, the Pacific islands and Australia. Students will research accommodation, transport and attractions and activities available to tourists.                                               

       


    

Course Overview

Term 1
During this term you will begin your journey by being introduced to terminology and concepts related to the Travel and Tourism industry. We focus our attention on New Zealand's place in the world, the importance of Tourism to our economy and the wonderful attractions, activities and accommodation options available to our tourists.
Credits available: 8 credits (working towards).

Term 2
During this term you should be completing the work that you started in Term one and then changing your attention to the Pacific Islands and the importance that Tourism has on our close island nations. You will be investigating attractions, activities, transport and accommodation options as well as lerning about the
unique cultures of the islands reserched.
Credits available: 5 credits (working towards)

Term 3
This term will see us turn our attention to Australia, our closest neighbour. We will research the attractions, activities, transport and accommodation options that make this country a popular destination for international travellers.
Credits available: 5 (working towards).

Term 4
During this term we will be recapping all that we have learnt and completing any unfinished activities.

Recommended Prior Learning

Students should have taken L2 Tourism and or Hospitality.

Students should have a genuine interest in the Travel and Tourism industry.
