Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs V. Maskell.

This course is career related. Students will study a number of areas associated with Hospitality and Customer service including Barista coffee making and learning about the origins of coffee and the bean roasting process. Students will also develop skills in customer relations and hospitality and well as learning strategies for working as part of group and dealing with different behavioural styles.                                               

       


    

Course Overview

Term 1
During this term we will focus on customer service and communication skills required by those working in the hospitality industry.
We will also begin our work on working as part of a team and learning about our customers differing behavioural styles

Term 2
During this term we will continue to develop our skills in working as part of a group, as well as learning about how to deal with differing behavioural styles of the customers that we serve.
Credits available: 5

Term 3
During this term we will focus on completing our work on the History of Coffee and it's production, as well as learning about the preparation and presentation of a range of coffee beverages available. Skills learnt will allow students to gain experience in beverage making which can lead to part time and holiday work.
Total credits available: 8

Term 4
During this term we will focus on the completion of our course work and expanding our barista skills to include latte art.

Recommended Prior Learning

Open entry to those who want to work in the Service Sector. 

Students may have taken Level 2 Hospitality, Catering or Tourism.
