2 Design and Product Development Technology

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr N. Padavatan.

                                                   

This course builds on the design knowledge and skills learnt in 1DPD. Students will design a product or a building that will solve a problem in society. They will use advanced design techniques to trial and test their product using a range of tools and processes.

                                               


       


    

Course Overview

Term 1
Topic: Mangere College Social Space
Assessment: A.S. 91354 v3 Generic Technology 2.1 - Undertake brief development to address an issue
Students will investigate and research sources of information on social spaces. Students will design a social space for Mangere College that is fit for purpose.

Term 2
Topic: Mangere College Social Space
Assessment: A.S. 91340 Use the characteristics of a design movement or era to inform own design ideas
Students will investigate an influential design era and in incorporate these design elements into their concepts of social spaces.

Term 3
Topic: Mangere College Social Space
Assessment : A.S. 91337 - Use visual communication techniques to generate design ideas
Student will use sketching techniques to construct concepts of social spaces for their portfolio.

Term 4
Assessment A.S. 91337 v3 Design and Visual Communication 2.30 - Use visual communication techniques to generate design ideas
Prepare portfolio for externals.

Recommended Prior Learning

15 credits in 1 DPD or HoD approval
